There is created in the department of administrative services, a division of equipment rental, organized as follows:

A. The division shall be under the supervision of an equipment rental manager, who shall be exempt from civil service, and appointed by the director of administrative services with the approval of the mayor.

B. The equipment rental manager shall have the following duties and responsibilities:

1. Preparation of specifications for acquisition of city vehicles and equipment, with the assistance of the purchasing manager, pursuant to the city’s purchasing policy;

2. Maintenance and repair of all city vehicles and mechanical equipment, exclusive of office equipment;

3. Make recommendations to the city’s purchasing manager regarding the disposition of city vehicles and equipment pursuant to the city’s property disposition ordinance;

4. Establish rental rates to be charged for vehicles and equipment used by city departments;

5. Manage cooperative agreements with other agencies of government for the acquisition, operation, maintenance and repair of, vehicles and equipment as directed by the director of administrative services;

6. Perform such other equipment management and rental functions as may be assigned by the director of administrative services. [Ord. 9375 § 3, 1984].
