The fire department has all such authority, responsibility, and duties as are normal to municipal fire departments, including, but not limited to, fire fighting, fire prevention, emergency rescue, and such other duties as are set by city ordinance, including issuing construction permits and such other city permits or licenses authorized by ordinance as a departmental responsibility and administering the city’s building and construction codes adopted in Chapter 17.10 BMC, as well as the city’s fire, mechanical, plumbing and electrical codes.
